Biography

Darko Sintič (1985) is a director of photography with many years of experience in film, television productions, and other audiovisual projects. He studied photography at VIST (Faculty of Applied Sciences in Ljubljana). He began his professional career as a fine art and documentary photographer, later working as a photography teacher at the Secondary School for Photography and Design Ljubljana, before fully dedicating himself to cinematography as a director of photography.In recent years, his focus has been primarily on documentary and fiction formats. He has collaborated on international projects in the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, as well as on Slovenian projects such as the film omnibus Kratki rezi, the short experimental film a Sudden Gust of Wind, and the historical documentary series Zgodbe s prepiha, which premiered on Television Slovenia in 2024. The series received the Butnskala Award for boldness and outstanding achievements in the audiovisual field, was nominated for the IRIS Award, and won the VESNA Award for Best Documentary Film at the Slovenian Film Festival 2025. As a co-screenwriter, he also participated in Torino Film Lab workshops in 2022 and 2023.
